With the recent release of Fusion 1, we have seen many of our customers pitting it against our ""Cyber Beast"", the CODE 23. As such, we have done a mini-series on our social media platforms to take an in-depth look at the two cables, to help answer some queries that you may have and help you decide which cable is the right one for you. If you didn't get the chance to visit our social media, worried not, as we have compiled all the information here in this EDM for you.
Tonality Preference
One distinction between CODE 23 and Fusion 1 would be the sound signature. CODE 23 was created to push the copper material to the extreme. The solid core provides a more powerful sub-bass, while the 13 multi-sized bundles provide greater clarity and control. Furthermore, you will experience picturesque vocals that are true to life and an expansive soundstage.
For Fusion 1, the unique blend of materials in each wire allows for a more unique flavor of sound that is immersive. But, the cable is also meticulously crafted so that each blend works harmoniously to strike the right balance. The technology we used ensures that each blend targets a specific range of sound, providing that flexible and creative space to audiophiles who want to explore, whilst ensuring that the optimal sound is produced every time.
Fit Preference
The ergonomics of a cable is something that every audiophile looks at before purchasing, as everyone wants to have a comfortable listening experience. Both the CODE 23 and Fusion 1 offer unique designs that allow for comfort for individuals with different needs.
CODE 23 provides more “manageability” over the use of the cable. From our own tests and reviews, CODE 23's “memory-wire-like quality” actually allows the wire to be shaped more easily. This fixed hold also counterbalances the cable's weight, reducing stress on your ears, whilst preventing it from constant pulling and dragging along the ears while using it on the go.
On the other hand, Fusion 1's cable design allows for great comfort when worn for long periods of time, due to its flexible build and natural flow that hang around the ears. The weight of the cable droops down naturally, with just the right amount of force to keep the hook in place.
IEM Pairings
Now that you have a good understanding of the differences between CODE 23 and Fusion 1, many of you would then be wondering, just what type of IEMs is suitable for each cable.
CODE 23 is designed with pure copper enthusiasts in mind, it harnesses the lush, organic, and warm characteristics of copper, making it the perfect match for non-dynamic driver or balanced armature / electrostatic-based IEMs. This is perfect for purist audiophiles looking for a safe, high-end copper option that would be suitable for their favorite IEMs. Some great options for pairing include 64 Audio U12T, Campfire Audio Andromeda, and Vision Ears VE7.
On the other hand, Fusion 1’s unique blend of materials allows the cable to work harmoniously with various driver types. Its highly conductive pure silver enhances the speed and precision of dynamic drivers, while the velvety tonal characteristics of the copper materials mitigate excessive brightness and smoothen the sharper signature of electrostatic drivers. Finally, our flagship gold-plated silver variants elevate the mids in balanced-armature drivers, providing a uniquely emotive sonic experience. To get you started, some good choices would be the Elysian Annihilator, Empire Ears Odin, and FiR Audio RN6.
Every cable by Effect Audio was created with a unique purpose in mind, to serve a targeted group of people, who desire an experience that other cables can’t provide. Both Fusion 1 and CODE 23 were hands down, our most ambitious projects to date.
CODE 23 embodies our desire to create a reasonably priced, flagship-level copper cable, for die-hard copper lovers. We kept in mind what our customers desire through every step of the innovation process, to create a powerful copper cable fitting for the name “Cyber Beast”.
On the other hand, for Fusion 1, we took inspiration from our previously successful cable, the Leonidas I, in the use of silver and gold. But this time we went a step beyond, mixing and matching multiple types of materials into 1 single blend wire, combined with new technology to elevate the potential of each material even further.
