Reviews
I am using this with a 4.4 to the iFi Gryphon and the UM Mest Mk2.
Build quality: this cable is absolutely beautiful, practically a piece of Jewelry. It perfectly drapes and practically no memory, you don't even have to wrap around your fingers, it rolls like a hose in the hot summer sun, the earhooks are very soft and pliable, an actual effective (no pun intended) chin slider. Treble: This set is known for sounding a little sharp and sibliant in the treble at times. I've tried many different cables and silver is great in a lot of respects, but for brighter sets like the Mest Mk2 it can be too much. This is the only Silver/Copper cable I've tried that controls the treble while remaining detailed and extended. Now it still can get a little sharp, but still plenty comfortable for long listening sessions; plus cables won't inherently change the tuning of your iem, they are just used as a fine tuning tool. High hats and symbols have great snap, detail and natural sounding. There is great controlled sparkle, especially with melodic house or neo-disco. Mids: The mids are damn near perfect with this cable. Wonderful timbre. Full bodied, rich and lush, with good texture, detail and extension, especially in the lower registers thanks to the copper. Male vocals in particular sound excellent. The Mest Mk2 is also known for having slightly recessed vocals and thinner lower mid-range, my iFi Gryphon helped that quite a bit, but I can tell with this compared to pure copper or gold the mids are still very slighty recessed but better now with my particular iem's. Female vocals have a silky, smooth and full-bodied timbre, I can hear subtle vocal inflections I've never heard. Bass: the Mest Mk2 is already known for having some of the best bass of any iem ever made. The quantity of bass with this cable is slighty down compared to a pure copper cable, but in a way it isn't because it's so full bodied. This is very high quality copper and you can tell. The bass is absolutely fantastic, the Mest Mk2 already has an analog bass quality, especially with that BC driver. Thanks to the silver plated copper the bass is deep, very textured, wide, deep, quicker and has a beautiful subwoofer like decay. The bass has this beautiful texture where it adds great weight to kick drums and mid-bass notes. This is excellent copper they're using because it sounds extremely natural and detailed, very full bodied, along with that silver it doesn't bleed into the mids whatsoever, very tight, snappy and wonderful sounding. I adore the bass with this cable. Soundstage/Imaging/Dynamics: If I could put it in to one word... WOW! Now this isn't the widest soundstage I've heard with a cable, but with the beautiful marriage of pure copper and silver you get this absolutely beautiful soundstage. Everything is perfectly placed and separated. The copper adds this great weight and texture to the mids and lows where it helps the silver shine. Imaging and separation is already class-leading with the Mest Mk2, but with this cable everything has an absolute black background around it and you can easily pinpoint where each instrument and sound is. Vocals are perfectly centered, along with the rest of the band. You can almost tell how far back the drums is from the guitar and how far the vocalist is from everything else. It's deeper than it is wider, probably because there is significantly more copper than silver, but I'm telling you the synergy of these 2 with soundstage and imaging, won't be found elsewhere. Incredible, just incredible.
Conclusion: all-in-all this cable is a feat of engineering. The craftsmanship and looks is impeccable, it'll last a long time, and it compliments just about any iem. The Treble is wonderfully extended while being controlled to not be too sibliant and very detailed. The mids have excellent timbre from guitars and drums especially to both femal and male vocals. Female vocals are still slighty thin, but gold would help that. The bass is my favorite aspect. I'm no bass-head, I like a balanced, slightly warm-neutral sound signature, but I definitely appreciate some high quality bass, (hence why I love my Mest Mk2) and the bass here is the star of the show, along with imaging and soundstage. The bass has a wonderful, absolutely beautiful, natural texture and decay to it. It's deep when it needs to be deep and tight and snappy at the same time. Imaging and soundstage like I said earlier in this review that it's just to die for. Separation and depth of instruments is amazing.
If you're on the fence about all these different cables to pick from, buy this one. There are better cables out there, yes, but for 50-100x more expensive. This is the best mid-tier cable I've ever had the pleasure to use and look at. Excellent job Effect Audio.
